Chip Cherry, CCE, was recently named 2021-22 Board Chair of the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).
Cherry serves as President & CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County Alabama and Secretary of the Huntsville Industrial Development Board. His Chamber career spans 39 years of service with Chambers of Commerce in Macon, Georgia; Greenville, North Carolina; Fredericksburg, Virginia; and Rocky Mount, North Carolina – holding the position of President & CEO in all Chambers with the exception of Rocky Mount.
Cherry holds a BA Degree in Business Administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College and an MBA from Mercer University. He completed the Ford Foundation Regionalism and Sustainable Development Fellowship Program; Tier II Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership; and the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC. He also secured the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) designation from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE), the Chamber industry’s highest professional designation.
Cherry serves on Redstone Arsenal’s Army Community Relations Committee, and the Board of the Business Council of Alabama. He has served on the Air Force Combat Command Commander’s Council and the Air Force Material Command’s Community Council, and also participated in the National Security Seminar at Carlisle Barracks, the National Security Forum at Maxwell AFB and the Department of Defense Joint Civilian Orientation Conference (JCOC 77). Cherry served as Chair of Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, the Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (North & South Carolina).
Cherry is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia, and has been married to his wife Betty for 37 years. They have two children, a son Trey, and daughter Julia. Trey and his wife Whitney live in Richmond, Virginia with their children Noah and Caroline. Julia is a program manager for Leadership Greater Huntsville.
