Strayer University, one of the most well-known adult-focused universities in America, has promoted Dr. Andrain Yeldell Jones to Employer Alliance Manager for its Southern Region. She started this position in October 2020. In her new role, Dr. Yeldell Jones will work with local business communities in partner engagement through their tuition assistance programs to enhance workforce development by providing employees tools to achieve their fullest potential.
Dr. Yeldell Jones has almost 30 years of educational experience in K-12 and higher education. After 25 years of service, she retired from Huntsville City Schools. She has been an adjunct instructor for J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College. Prior to her current position and since October 2018, she served as the Academic Dean for Strayer’s Decatur Alabama Campus.
She acquired her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History in Secondary Education and Master’s degree in Social Science from Alabama A&M University, and earned her administrative certification from the University of Alabama. She matriculated to Tennessee State University and earned her Education Specialist Degree in Administration & Supervision. Her Doctorate in Instructional Leaderships is from the University of Alabama.
Dr. Yeldell Jones is very engaged in the communities within the Huntsville and Decatur area. Her current community activities include the following: WEDC Foundation Mentor, Decatur/Morgan County Chamber Commodore, Huntsville Inner City Learning Center Board of Directors, and Huntsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc diverse community projects. She has also served on the North Alabama Sickle Cell Board of Directors, the Alabama State Sickle Cell Oversight & Regulatory Commission, and Alabama A&M Youth Motivation Task Force. In 2011 she was chosen Citizen of the Year by the Xi Omicron Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc and received the 2017 Herbert M. Handley Distinguished Dissertation Award from the Midsouth Educational Research Association, which includes all the SEC schools.
Dr. Andrain Yeldell Jones is married to Buryl D. Jones, Jr. Together they have three daughters, Chasiti, Andrea, and Devan, son-n-law Tim, and three granddaughters Bella, Brailee, and Maliah.
