HUNTSVILLE, AL 4/7/21 – Crestwood Medical Center has announced that Kristina Goodwin has been named Chief Nursing Officer effective June 1, 2021.
Goodwin, a certified registered Nurse Practitioner, has 16 years of nursing experience and has been at Crestwood since 2014 in various positions with ever-expanding responsibilities including Director of Critical Care and Cardiovascular Services, Senior Director of Nursing Services, and Assistant Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to her Crestwood leadership roles, she has experience in cardiology and vascular surgery offices and emergency services as a nurse practitioner and as a nurse in surgical trauma ICU. Ms. Goodwin received her bachelors and masters degrees in nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and also has certification as a family nurse practitioner.
Goodwin replaces Susan Bryce who has announced her retirement. Bryce has been with Crestwood for more than 15 years, serving as Chief Nursing Officer since 2017. During her tenure, Bryce has achieved notable goals including continuous Joint Commission accreditation, multiple Center of Excellence awards in various service lines, and recognition for patient experience performance. More recently, Bryce was recognized as one of Alabama’s Top 10 Nurses.
Pam Hudson, Chief Executive Officer at Crestwood Medical Center, stated, “We will certainly miss Susan and her incredible leadership in our organization. The Chief Nursing Officer position in a hospital is one of the most important factors in the hospital team being able to provide consistent, safe, quality care and is the main partner with the medical staff to assure coordinated care by a competent clinical team. We are very fortunate to have had a chief nurse as passionate and committed as Susan Bryce.” Hudson adds, “Susan’s contributions to patients and their care are matched by her service to the team she leads. Bryce helped us select and prepare an equally incredible successor in Kristina Goodwin who has an excellent partnership with our medical staff and has an attitude that ‘what must be done can be done’. Goodwin’s leadership was critical during the pandemic, always intent on exceptional care standards to keep patients and staff safe.”
