Mask Up Huntsville: Face coverings required as of July 7 in Madison County

July 2, 2020

Updated July 7, 2020

Effective today at 5 p.m. face coverings will be required in public places throughout Madison County.  This has been ordered by the Madison County Health Officer and affects indoor spaces of businesses or venues open to the general public.  Read the order.

As of July 7, Madison County is still listed as “very high risk” in the color-coded map the Alabama Department of Public Health recently released.  Here is what the “very high risk” designation means.

We have created graphics for you to use on social media, and you can also print these for your front door or place them throughout your office, encouraging everyone to Mask Up.  We invite you to post pictures to social media using the hashtag #maskuphsv so we can continue to spread the word.  It is going to take all of us working together to beat this virus, and health officials say this is what we as citizens can do to stop the spread. Let’s please protect each other.

As cases have risen increased in our community, our hospitals are becoming strained. David Spillers of Huntsville Hospital and Pam Hudson of Crestwood Medical Center were candid with us this week in our Zoom call with membership. We must get a handle on prevention and help stop the spread before medical providers are overwhelmed. Hospital leaders and health officials urge the use of face coverings to prevent the spread of the virus.
