Alabama A&M University officials announced on Aug. 18 that an anonymous, young alum has donated $2.2M to their beloved alma mater. The actual gift amount totals $2,187,518.75, which is twice reflective of the institution’s founding year of 1875.

Calhoun Community College interim president Dr. Joe Burke recently announced his retirement after almost 35 years with the Alabama Community College System. Dr. Burke has been the interim president at Calhoun for the past three years. His last day at the school will be May 28.

HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology broke ground virtually on two new buildings. The first is 90,000 square feet, and will be home to Discovery Life Sciences’ Global Headquarters. The second will be 13,000 square feet in greenhouse and lab space that will allow HudsonAlpha to take the next large step with plant genomics research for sustainable agriculture work.
