Dan Shafer, CFD Research Corporation

From leading propulsion tests at Blue Origin to managing defense programs at Lockheed Martin, Dan Shafer brings unmatched experience to his new role as Vice President of Test & Evaluation at CFD Research. His 30+ year career spans test operations, machining and prototyping, program management, and executive leadership across both government and commercial sectors. At Blue Origin, he most recently served as Site Director, overseeing more than 300 engine tests on the BE-3 and BE-4 propulsion systems at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Before that, he led large, multi-site teams at Lockheed Martin, driving complex national security programs.

“I’m excited to join a company with such a strong technical legacy and commitment to innovation,” said Shafer. “I look forward to advancing our T&E capabilities in support of our customers’ missions.”

Schafer holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology, a Master’s in Engineering Management from the University of Central Florida, and he completed post-graduate studies at Old Dominion University.

As Vice President of T&E, Shafer will guide the division’s technical strategy, operations, personnel development, and customer engagement to help drive its next phase of growth.
