Deirdre Scully, Chief Engineer for Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI)‘s Army Research and Development Business Unit, is driving innovation in advanced defense technology. As an accomplished algorithm researcher, she develops and implements cutting-edge Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD). Deirdre creates AI/ML software policies and protocols for the Army System Readiness Directorate Airworthiness and demonstrates exceptional leadership by establishing a new Agile/Scrum team, where she serves as both Product Owner and Scrum Master, overseeing an internal tool utilized across multiple projects. Her expertise also includes leveraging an internal reinforcement learning adversary tool to validate and verify data and algorithms.
In addition to her technical contributions, Deirdre leads MTSI’s Autonomous Systems Community of Practice, spearheading advancements in autonomy, robotics, AI, and ML across diverse efforts. She also serves on MTSI’s internal AI/ML Capability Focus Areas team, fostering new business opportunities and improving organizational policies. Dedicated to empowering colleagues, Deirdre develops and delivers accessible artificial intelligence training designed to benefit employees from a variety of backgrounds.
