WLRH has TWO big reasons to celebrate Katy Ganaway, host of All Things Considered, Morning Edition & Arts Underground. She was accepted into and completed the Spring 2024 cohort for The Civic Engagement Academy (CEA), a City of Huntsville initiative designed to introduce residents to City government through a series of integrated classes that are interactive, dynamic, fun and creative. Katy had the opportunity to engage with City leaders and learn multiple ways of getting involved with local government. We were excited that Katy continues to strive to understand our city, and that she represented public radio in this important space.
Secondly, Katy won the Alabama Broadcasters’ Association 2024 Judges’ Award of Merit in the Public Affairs Programming for Large Market Radio at the annual ABBY awards held in April! Her feature on Arts Underground entitled “Free Reading” spotlighted a few special bookish guests reading from their favorite banned books ahead of Banned Books Week. She also elevated some artists from “Blast Music,” the Huntsville Madison County Public Library’s free & invaluable local music streaming service. (If you missed it, you can find it on wlrh.org.)
Katy continues to find ways to provide valuable content for our community and raise the reputation of WLRH in our area. We are so proud of her!
