Levis Hughes was hired in June 2023 as Director of Financial Operations at the Madison County Commission.
Hughes, the newest addition to the Finance Department, brings extensive experience to the role. Hailing from Florida, Levis has dedicated the past 17 years to overseeing various administrative functions within State government, initially in Tennessee and more recently in Florida. His broad range of responsibilities encompassed Finance, Budgeting, Accounting, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Purchasing. Prior to his government roles, Levis managed similar functions in the Banking and Loan Servicing industry in the private sector.
With two undergraduate degrees in Finance and Accounting, as well as a master’s in business administration (MBA), Levis possesses a strong educational foundation. Beyond his professional endeavors, he has actively contributed to his community. Levis served as Treasurer for a non-profit organization, imparted his knowledge by teaching Accounting and Business courses as an adjunct instructor at a local college, and held the position of President in his homeowner’s association until recently.
Levis and his wife have been married for 38 years and are the proud parents of two stepsons and grandparents to six grandchildren. Currently, they are in the process of relocating to the Huntsville area, eagerly embracing this new chapter in their lives.
