Michael Hampton joined PeopleTec a few years ago and was recently promoted to Talent Acquisition Director. He manages the company’s recruiting, onboarding, new employee engagement, and compensation. As an employee-owned, Best Place to Work® company, PeopleTec says its employee-owners are the number one priority, and Michael ensures that they are a part of that PeopleFirst culture from the first time a candidate is called all the way to their first day on Team PeopleTec and beyond.
The company says Michael encouraged PeopleTec to place a stronger emphasis on our new employee processes. He applied the company’s new Applicant Tracking System, iCIMS, which is the World’s leading talent cloud that empowers employers and hiring managers with a single platform that builds a diverse, qualified, and winning workforce. iCIMS also provides candidates a paperless, seamless tool for career searching, job applications, offer letters, and onboarding requirements.
Michael also added new ideas to PeopleTec’s New Employee Orientation/Onboarding: Upon a signed offer letter, supervisors are given a checklist that requires communication with their new employee, lunch plans, training timelines, facility tours, and goals and expectations laid out. On day one, new hires are taken through New Employee Orientation where a skilled HR member trains them on the company’s mission, workforce statistics, timecards, IT needs, and benefits. They are also given a physical reference guide with best points of contact, links, and resources for every PeopleTec department that they may need.
Then, at the end of every quarter, Michael suggested that PeopleTec host a New Employee-Owner Meet & Greet where that quarter’s new employees are invited to meet the CEO, President, ESOP Manager, and HR members. They get to hear more intimately about the co-founders’ mission and path forward, employee-ownership and its benefits, and the opportunity to give face-to-face feedback. The meet & greet ends with a question-and-answer session with the CEO and President, and PeopleTec follows up with an anonymous survey to find out what is working and what needs to be improved with the onboarding processes and procedures.
PeopleTec says these investments help the company not only recruit the best and brightest but also retain them, and added that Michael has been a key player in all of this from start to finish.
