
St. John Paul II Catholic High School (JPII) is thrilled to announce the hiring of Michael P. Henry as the school’s new Principal. Henry joins JPII with over 20 years of experience in Catholic school education as an assistant principal, educator, and athletic coach in many different school districts in the Southeast.
Prior to JPII, Henry was the assistant principal at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia. Some of his previous places of employment were Brandon Hall School in Atlanta, Georgia, and Buena Vista Academy in Windermere, Florida. He started his career in Catholic education at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School as a teacher and coach. He taught AP Government and coached football, basketball, and golf. While there, Henry helped build a successful athletic program, with the foundation coming from the accomplishments of his sports teams during his coaching career. His previous experience shows his passion for serving Catholic schools and the Catholic community. Henry has numerous years of experience in teaching, mentoring, leadership, community relations, and high school sports while working in educational environments. Michael C. Burke, President of St. John Paul II Catholic High School, stated, “We are fortunate to have Michael Henry join the team at JPII. With his vast experience in Catholic high schools, he will make an immediate impact on the quality of our program.”
Henry holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in History from Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina, and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a strong supporter of Campus Ministry, extracurricular activities, and faculty development. His family includes his wife, Fran, their children, Allison and Patrick, and their two dogs. With his respected and proven credentials, Michael Henry will be a wonderful addition to St. John Paul II Catholic High School in his new role.
