Rochelle Sexton, a dedicated animal advocate with the Greater Huntsville Humane Society (GHHS) moved into the leadership role, Director of Marketing & Communication in Summer 2022.
After losing her beloved boxer Monte, Sexton began fostering for GHHS in April 2016. Her involvement with the organization quickly grew as an active volunteer lending countless hours supporting the front desk, coordinating the former on-site pet wellness clinic, and supporting fundraising events. Over the course of the last several years she has held contracted roles in administrative and volunteer initiatives. In June 2021 she officially joined the organization as the Marketing & Communication Strategist, quickly leading to her current role a year later.
The Director of Marketing & Communication is the lead in the shelter’s social media presence, public relations, grant writing, fundraising events and campaigns, along with creating community partnerships. Sexton stated, “Outside of speaking for the homeless animals in our care, promoting a genuine partnership with our community supporters is a priority for me. Without their support, we would be unable to achieve our mission. Building a solid foundation of trust and commitment in Huntsville is key for our future in animal advocacy.”
Sexton is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, holding her master’s degree in Professional Communication. She is also a part-time lecturer within the university’s Communication Arts department.
