Tim Miller, St. John Paul II Catholic High School

St. John Paul II Catholic High School (JPII) is excited to announce the hiring of Mr. Tim Miller as the school’s new Athletic Director. Mr. Miller joins JPII with over 30 years of experience in high school education as a physical education teacher, health educator, and celebrated basketball coach in many different school districts in Alabama.

Before JPII, Mr. Miller was a renowned girls’ basketball coach and physical education teacher at Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Alabama. Some of his prior places of employment were the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama, Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and Hillcrest High School in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In 2012, Mr. Miller accepted a position as assistant women’s basketball/interim coach at the University of Alabama. The following year, he accepted a coaching position at Hazel Green High School.

He is the only coach in Alabama to win girls’ basketball state championships at three different schools, the only coach to guide his teams to seven consecutive state championships, and the only girls’ basketball coach in AHSAA history to coach 11 State Championship teams, an Alabama record. He has a career record of 780-112 and holds the highest winning percentage in Alabama. His teams currently hold over 20 State records. He is a member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Hall of Fame (2023) and the Huntsville/Madison County Hall of Fame (2020).
Mr. Miller’s previous experience shows his passion for supporting students, coaches, and the school community. Mr. Miller has many years of experience in teaching, mentoring, team leadership, instructional teamwork, and high school sports while working in educational environments.

Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Performance from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. He strongly supports teamwork, player communication, and team development. With his well-known and proven credentials, Mr. Miller will be a great addition to St. John Paul II Catholic High School in his new role. He is married to Kimberly Ann Miller and has two stepsons, Charles and T.J., and two grandchildren, Tyline and Cameron.
