Brian Byers has joined Modern Technology Solutions Inc (MTSI) as Senior Director Army Research and Development. Brian will be responsible for providing senior leadership in support of MTSI’s business with the U.S. Army’s Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM), including all the R&D centers and Army Research Laboratory.
Brian is from Louisville, Kentucky and a graduate of the University of Louisville. He comes to MTSI after working at Raytheon Technologies for the last five years. At Raytheon he served as the Director of High Energy Lasers responsible for the DE M-SHORAD program; prior to that, he was the Director of Strategic Sensors supporting multiple strategic radar programs including the AN TPY-2. Prior to that he was the Vice President for Strategy at Penta Research in Huntsville. Brian served a 30-year career in the Army serving in multiple command and leadership positions. Brian served in Huntsville from 2006 to 2008 as part of the Robotics Joint Program Office. He and his family returned to Huntsville in 2014 after the Army War College where he was the Military Deputy for AMRDEC, now AvMC. His final Army assignment was as the Project Manager for the THAAD program at the Missile Defense Agency. Brian brings a history of leadership, and management experience leading high achieving teams.
Brian and his wife Dawn have six children: William, James, Mary, Thomas, John, and Rebecca. They live in south Huntsville, which provides them access to the outdoor activities they enjoy.
