Each year, the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber recognizes well-respected small businesses whose hard work and dedication helps our community shine. Winning a Small Business Award is a big honor, and it’s also an excellent way to get your company’s name recognized in a competitive market. After all, you want to be a small business that stands out!
We recognize businesses in several categories:
- Culinary Business of the Year: Restaurant or Catering Business
- Emerging Business of the Year: Applicant making entry for Emerging Business must have started their business in 2021.
- Local “Creative” of the Year: Business or Individual that strives to provide unique products, services, or experiences for their customers.
- Government Contracting Professional Services Business of the Year: Provide 75% or more of the professional services that require professional licenses/certifications to federal contracts or other government agencies.
- Government Contracting Technology Business of the Year: Provide 75% or more of technology/engineering services to federal contracts or other government agencies.
- Medical Practice of the Year: Dentistry, Medical Doctors, Veterinary Medicine, Chiropractor
- Nonprofit of the Year: Must have an official 501(c )3 or 501(c )6 designation from the IRS or a designation as a donor directed fund of a community foundation; must also be located in and/or serve the residents of Madison County.
- Professional Services Business of the Year: Provide 75% of professional services that require professional licenses/certification to non-government contractors or private consumers (example: accountants, lawyers, real estate agents, etc.)
- Retailer of the Year: Operate or manage a retail business geared towards the average consumer
- Service Business of the Year: Commercial business that provides services performed in an expert manner for the benefit of its consumers (example: cleaning services, landscaping, beauty and wellness services, etc.)
- Technology Business of the Year: Technology or engineering based businesses providing 75% of services to private customers or non-government contractors
- Woman-Owned Business of the Year: Must be a woman or women-owned company (must have 51% or greater company ownership)
