HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Huntsville/Madison County Chamber hosted its 88th Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday in the Von Braun Center Saturn Ballroom. During the event, in her last official act as Chair, 2023 Chamber Board Chair Lynn Troy presented the Distinguished Service Award to Mac McCutcheon, Chairman of the Madison County Commission.
The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor the Chamber bestows to an individual in the Huntsville/Madison County community. McCutcheon has a long history of service to our community and nation, including serving in the U.S. Army, then as a Huntsville Police Officer, a State Representative, and ultimately as our 66th Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives. He was appointed as Madison County Commission Chair by Governor Kay Ivey on January 31, 2023, after Dale Strong was elected to U.S. Congress.
“Mac answered the call and is doing an incredible job serving all of us again,” said Troy. “Throughout his remarkable career, he has epitomized the values of integrity, dedication, and selflessness. Mac’s legacy of service and leadership has left an indelible mark on our community and state that will endure for generations to come.”
Troy, who is President of Troy7, Inc. in Huntsville, officially passed the gavel to the Chamber’s 2024 Board Chair, Sameer Singhal. Singhal is President and CEO of CFD Research, located in Cummings Research Park.
The Chamber’s Annual Membership Meeting gives us the opportunity to present updates on the past year to members and community leaders, plus look ahead to what’s in store in the coming months. We also distributed our 2023 Annual Report to attendees.
Cassi Chandler was the keynote speaker for the luncheon. Chandler served as the FBI’s first African American female special agent assistant director as well as the Bureau’s first female national spokesperson and director of public and community affairs. She is now the founder, president, and CEO of Vigeo Alliance, a leadership and talent risk management partner helping organizations elevate their cultures through diversity and inclusion.
