Jacob Pohly, Principal Engineer with Avion Solutions, has recently been promoted to Program Manager with the Program Executive Office (PEO) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Jacob, a Huntsville native, is working as an Airworthiness System Engineer for the Shadow Tactical UAS (TUAS) and the Army’s Future TUAS. He is also a sitting member of Avion Solution’s Corporate Giving Board.
Jacob recently volunteered to lead the integration of the Army’s new and expanding 3D Printing and Advanced Manufacturing capabilities into the four of the UAS programs.
Prior to joining Avion Solutions as a Systems Engineer, Jacob served ten years in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer. He served as a paratrooper, earning his Sapper tab and went on to compete in the 2012 and 2016 Best Sapper Competitions. He commanded the Bravo Company of the 65th Brigade Engineer Battalion at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. He also served one combat tour in Afghanistan in 2013 in Regional Command Southwest where he integrated manned and unmanned intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance aircraft into Route Clearance operations.
Jacob is a graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
