Jason Gregory has joined NextOp Vets to support their mission of helping active duty service members seeking to transition out of the military into meaningful careers.
Gregory was born in Hammond, Indiana in 1982. His family relocated to Scottsboro, Alabama when he was three years old. He graduated from Scottsboro High School in 2000, where he was an active member of JROTC and competed on the Rifle Team and competed in Track and Field.
After high school, Gregory attended college for two years. During this time, he married his high school sweetheart, Natalie. The couple decided joining the Navy would be a smart move to help establish a foundation for their life together. Jason enlisted in 2002 into the US Navy Submarine Force as an Electronics Technician in the Submarine Electronics Computer Field. “I rose in rank and authority fairly quickly and at the end of my first enlistment, my wife and I decided we were having a great time doing a job that allowed us to travel, learn new things, and protect the world’s greatest country,” Jason shared. “That led to my re-enlistment and the same reasons kept me in service for 23 years.”
Gregory’s transition from military to civilian life began when he received a notification from NextOp Vets seeking out active duty service members looking to continue serving the warfighting enterprise in the civilian sector. Interested, he reached out and was chosen to participate in a fly-in to Huntsville, Alabama. There he met the team, learned what the NextOp mission was, and realized that’s what he wanted to pursue: The opportunity to help transitioning service members land meaningful careers that utilize their particular skill set. “The opportunity has presented itself in the way of a Skillbridge that has allowed me to participate in an internship with NextOP as they further expand their efforts across the country,” said Gregory.
“My experience with NextOp has been nothing short of phenomenal,” he added. “I’ve had the opportunity to interact with every member of the NextOp team as well as the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce learning how much effort they put into serving the enlisted military community. From the numerous phone calls and virtual meetings to in-person hiring events, the NextOP staff has been as unbelievably supportive of me as an intern as they are of transitioning service members and veterans.”
Jason and Natalie have been married for 23 years and have two beautiful daughters, Riley and Charlee.
