Jon Andrew, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy

Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy is pleased to welcome its new Musical Theater Specialist, Jon Andrew, to the team!

With over 20 years of experience, Jon has a passion for telling stories and connecting with people through the magic of theatre. He got his start in children’s theatre while in college, performing for thousands of kids each year with an improvisational theatre troupe, the Pied Pipers. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance, and has performed and directed at the community, collegiate, and professional level with people of all ages. Some of his favorite roles include Frog in A Year With Frog and Toad, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Peter in Peter and the Starcatcher, and Dan in Next to Normal. His work has previously been recognized by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and by the Voice and Speech Trainers Association, and he is a certified practitioner of the Lessac Vocal Technique. Jon also does freelance voiceover work and has recorded audiobooks, online commercials, stories for a children’s learning app, and more.

Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy (FPCTA) provides theatre arts access through production, education and outreach, reaching tens of thousands of residents annually, the majority of whom are children and youth. FPCTA enriches the lives of children and families through theatre and arts education, encouraging students to become self-confident, academically successful, creative-thinking citizens who are more likely to invest in their communities as adults. FPCTA’s core programs include live children’s theatre productions, year-round classes, camps, workshops, private lessons, and educational outreach through after-school classes, touring programs and a workforce development partnership with Alabama A&M University. Recognizing the transformative power theatre arts can have in the life of a child, FPCTA prioritizes theatre arts access for all by engaging local under-resourced and differently-abled communities.
