Les Tillery, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture

McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture (MPS) is proud to announce that Les Tillery, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, has assumed the role of Principal and Huntsville Studio Leader for McMillan Pazdan Smith, following the integration of Huntsville-based Fuqua & Partners into MPS earlier this year.

With more than 25 years of experience in architecture and design, Tillery brings deep commitment to client vision, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable design. He has led a wide range of high-profile projects across north Alabama, including award-winning designs for the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering and the City of Huntsville Transit Station. He has also served as Principal in Charge of new facilities at Redstone Gateway and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. Tillery’s expertise spans planning, interior architecture, design, and construction efficiency, with a proven reputation for leading teams that deliver impactful, sustainable environments.

Tillery serves as Chairman of the City of Huntsville Planning Commission and on the board of the City of Huntsville Cummings Research Park. He is a member of Arts Huntsville Public Art Committee and serves on the Board of the Alabama Center for Architecture, promoting design excellence and architectural education.

He is a board member of Downtown Huntsville Inc., and the Huntsville Committee of 100, where he contributes to strategic initiatives that foster business growth and civic leadership. His community service extends with First Baptist Church, where he serves on the Trustees Committee.

A graduate of Mississippi State University’s School of Architecture (who honored him with an Alumni award in 2024), Tillery is a licensed architect in four states and a LEED Accredited Professional. He has held leadership roles with the American Institute of Architects, including serving as President of both the Alabama Council and the North Alabama Chapter.

Tillery leads McMillan Pazdan Smith’s growing Huntsville studio, located at 100 Church Street SW, Suite 700, and continues to shape the built environment across the region with thoughtful, community-focused design.
