HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (November 15, 2021) – Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) today celebrates the unveiling of the much-anticipated second vehicle in its production lineup – the all-new Mazda CX-50 – which will be produced on MTM’s Discovery Production Line. The joint venture partnership between Mazda Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation will continue its hiring boom through 2022 for both the Mazda CX-50 and the Toyota Corolla Cross, which is assembled on the Apollo Production Line.
“The wait is over for us, as Mazda’s global reveal introduced the world to the CX-50,” said Mark Brazeal, Vice President of Administration. “It is an exciting time to be a part of the MTM team and building two brand new SUVs right here in North Alabama.”
MTM will hire up to 1,400 additional team members to join its existing workforce, eventually reaching up to 4,000 once production is in full operation. The plant has the capacity to produce 300,000 vehicles a year, evenly split between the two nameplates.
“Our team members are truly building a new company and a new culture,” said Janette Hostettler, Vice President of Production. “The reveal of our second SUV, the Mazda CX-50, is a huge milestone for us, and we can’t wait to add more talented people to our team.”
MTM will continue its ramp up to full production into 2022, when both the Apollo and the Discovery Production Lines will be producing vehicles to be sold across North America.
