Calhoun Community College is proud to announce the appointment of Takeema Johnson as Director of its Huntsville Site. She officially began her new role on August 10, 2024.
Takeema began her career at Calhoun in 2020 as an Academic Advisor. Her outstanding leadership and commitment to student success led to her promotion as Supervisor of the Advising Center in 2021. Now, as Director of the Huntsville Site, she brings her expertise and passion for education to this new position.
Before joining Calhoun, Takeema gained a wealth of experience in education through various roles, including multiple positions in the Adult Education Department at Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City, AL; Dual Enrollment Instructor for Business Education at Columbus Technical College in Columbus, GA; Dual Enrollment Coordinator at Drake State Technical & Community College; and Adult Computer Literacy Instructor at Phenix City Public Schools. She also served as an elementary teacher’s aide and substitute teacher, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the needs of learners at every stage of life.
Takeema’s educational achievements are equally impressive. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Human Resources Management from Auburn University at Montgomery, a master’s degree in Higher Education with a concentration in Adult Education from Capella University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Higher Education with a focus on Higher Education Leadership at The University of Alabama. Combined with over a decade of business experience, her academic and professional background make her a dynamic and forward-thinking leader.
When asked about her new role, Takeema shared: “Accepting the position of Director of the Huntsville Site is a reflection of my lifelong passion for education and service. I firmly believe there are no limitations with an education, and I am honored to lead a campus where we transform challenges into opportunities and empower students to achieve their dreams.”
After five years of dedicated service to the College, this promotion reflects Takeema’s unwavering commitment to student success. The College looks forward to the innovative ideas and leadership she will bring to her new role.
