SmartAsset examined employment, income, commute, benefits and affordability data for 340 of the largest U.S. cities and Huntsville ranked #1. Huntsville is fairly inexpensive to live in based on average job pay. On average, housing costs make up only 15.9% of the $70,757 annual median salary. Unemployment was 3.9%, compared to an average of 6.9% across all cities.

The City of Huntsville ranks #1 for The Best Places to Live for Families in the U.S. for 2023-24! The ranking from U.S. News and World Report was based on affordability, quality of life and the job market.

Huntsville is Alabama’s most educated city, coming in just inside the top 25 nationally, according to a new ranking by Wallethub. The ranking of the 150 most populated U.S. metropolitan statistical areas looked at 11 metrics within two categories: educational attainment and quality of education and attainment gap.

The City of Huntsville, Alabama, ranks #2 on the 2023-2024 best place to live in the United States, according to a ranking by U.S. News & World Report. To make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life.
