HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (September 17, 2018) – Automotive Interior supplier Mitchell Plastics is expanding its Huntsville, Alabama operation on Highway 72 East in the Chase Industrial Park. The addition will be approximately 130,000 square feet and will allow the plant to grow with 12 new injection molding machines, a new paint line, expanded assembly area, additional shipping bays, and new offices. Positions will be available for direct hire after completion of the expansion, estimated to be July 2019. In the past few years, Mitchell Plastics has expanded their operations with a focus on supporting global customer requirements. In March 2014, Mitchell Plastics opened a new manufacturing facility in Queretaro, Mexico, supplying a number of automotive OEM customers from that location. An OEM is an original equipment manufacturer, providing automotive goods used as components in the products of another automotive company.
In July 2015, the company added a sales and engineering office in Munich to support their German OEM customers and is currently exploring a manufacturing plant in Europe. In September 2017, Mitchell Plastics opened a new manufacturing facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan and more recently in July 2018, a plant in Saltillo, Mexico.
