Our hospitals need YOU! Blood donations are low in our area, and you can help! Donating is still safe during the COVID-19 outbreak, and you can find out more information about that here. Donors are desperately needed to help maintain an adequate blood supply for patients in need in our area.
LifeSouth is collecting blood donations from a variety of locations across Huntsville/Madison County and North Alabama. A list of their upcoming drives can be seen here. LifeSouth blood donations stay local.
You can also donate blood to the American Red Cross. Khris Anderson, Executive Director of the North Alabama Chapter of the American Red Cross, participated in the City of Huntsville’s daily update on March 24. “Never before in my lifetime have we seen such an urgent need for blood,” said Anderson. “Blood is a product that cannot be made in a lab. You can’t make it and put it in a can and save it for when you need it. Blood is an ongoing need we have in our community for our cancer patients, for burn victims, for trauma, for blood disorders, the list goes on and on.” Watch Anderson’s comments here — they come in on the video at about 13:15.
