HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Please remember to VOTE on Tuesday, March 5 in Alabama’s primary election! Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and you’ll need your photo ID.
This will be part of ‘Super Tuesday,’ which earned its nickname because it’s the date most states hold their presidential primaries and caucuses. In all, 16 states and one U.S. territory will vote on Super Tuesday.
Alabama has open primaries, which means voters do not register as Democrats or Republicans. When you go in your polling place, you’ll show your photo ID and choose one party’s ballot. There’s a wealth of local election information on MadisonCountyVotes.com, including sample ballots:

Alabama’s Primary Runoff will be held on April 16, in case a winner is not determined in a particular race. There is a rule against ‘crossover voting’ in runoff elections in Alabama — meaning you are prohibited from voting in one party’s primary and in the other party’s runoff election.
The Party candidates who win the primaries will face one another in the general election on November 5.
There are also special elections for Alabama House of Representatives District 10 on March 26 and for Alabama House District 27 on April 2.
