Mr. Burney, a partner in the firm’s Huntsville office, is one of only six M&A lawyers in Alabama included in the M&A Powerlist: United States in 2024. He is a member of the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group and focuses his practice on mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, securities offerings, and other transactions. Additionally, he serves as outside corporate counsel to several clients, providing advice on corporate governance matters, compensation arrangements, regulatory issues and contractual relationships. Mr. Burney’s transactional experience involves stock and asset acquisitions and dispositions, mergers and complex joint venture transactions, including transactions involving rollover equity and other non-cash consideration, across a broad range of industry sectors, including federal government contracting, construction, engineering services, agriculture, biotechnology, real estate, and food and beverage businesses.
