Madison County announces that Dylan Whisenant has been promoted to the position of Director of Emergency Communications, effective July 3, 2024.
Dylan joined Madison County in 2014, as an Emergency Telecommunicator I. Over the past decade, he has demonstrated exceptional dedication and expertise, earning five promotions within the department. His most recent role was as Quality Assurance and Training Coordinator, where he played a critical role in enhancing emergency communication services.
Since February 2024, Dylan has been serving as the Acting Director of Emergency Communications, further proving his capability in this role.
Dylan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management with a minor in Public Safety Communications from Jacksonville State University, graduating summa cum laude. He is also certified as a Center Training Officer (CTO) and an Emergency Number Professional (ENP). His academic achievements are complemented by numerous certifications, including ED-Q for EMD, EFD, and EPD.
Dylan is known for his strong leadership skills, having successfully supervised personnel, managed quality assurance standards, and conducted comprehensive training programs. His technical proficiency includes expertise in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and proficiency in MS Office applications.
Throughout his career with Madison County, Dylan has been committed to excellence. He has developed and implemented training programs that have significantly improved staff performance and operational success. His ability to manage critical incidents and maintain high-quality service under pressure has been exemplary.
As the new Director of Emergency Communication, Dylan will continue to lead the department with dedication and vision. His extensive experience, educational background, and proven leadership make him the ideal candidate to enhance emergency communication services and support the safety of our community.
