HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Feb. 12, 2021) – There’s good news about new providers coming online to offer COVID-19 vaccines. More pharmacies will join in as supply becomes available. For now, in Huntsville/Madison County, your best bet is to to sign up through Huntsville Hospital, as well as Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies. These outlets are doing vaccinations by appointment only.
The Madison County Health Department is still offering vaccines, but is only doing second doses until at least early March, when they hope to receive more shipment.
You can also check Alabama’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Dashboard. Click on the various plots to see locations that are approved to offer vaccine, as they receive it. Some have started, others are signing up people and will notify them when they receive supply. If you see a provider near you and you’re eligible, try visiting their website, where they’ve likely listed the latest information for their location.
Currently, only the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are approved for use by the FDA, and both are two-dose vaccines. A third vaccine, by Johnson and Johnson, is due for FDA review later this month and is a one-dose vaccine.
Remember — we are still very early in the process and more vaccine is being produced by the second. Please be patient.
