(HUNTSVILLE, Ala.) – On August 23, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Jackson Center, the Huntsville Association of Small Businesses in Advanced Technology (HASBAT) will proudly honor and celebrate 25 years of being a unified single voice for advocacy and advancement for small businesses in advanced technology in the Huntsville area.
As a nonprofit, HASBAT works to ensure high technology small business in the Huntsville area are being recognized and promoted effectively. Since 1993, HASBAT has continued to serve as a beacon for small business growth in the Huntsville area.
“Who would have thought 25 years ago HASBAT would grow from our four Founding Members to almost 150 Member companies? We are truly blessed and honored to celebrate such a significant milestone as our 25th Silver Anniversary with our Members, Friends, and the Huntsville Community,” stated Allison M. Rhen, current HASBAT Board President. “HASBAT’s success is a direct reflection of the dedication, support, and commitment we receive from our Members (Large and Small / Associate and Technical) and as we embark on our next 25 years, we will continue to invest and support the Huntsville Defense Community.”
Over the years, HASBAT has helped lay the groundwork for small businesses to grow by helping them identify business opportunities, develop business-to-business relationships, and navigate the Huntsville defense market. They have also supported the launch of numerous initiatives to help fulfill the mission as a Small Business Advocate; a few recognizable endeavors include the Space and Missile Defense (SMD) Symposium and the HASBAT Small Business Advocate for Excellence Award presented at the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce Small Business Awards.
“Our Members remind us to never underestimate the power and momentum of a group of organizations charged with advancing opportunities for small businesses,” explained Larry Couvillon, HASBAT 1st Vice President. “HASBAT’s strategic objective to connect people and advance opportunities within our community is magnified by the value-added benefits, tools, and resources we provide our Members.” When asked what Member benefits HASBAT offers, Couvillon stated “you’ll have to attend the 25th Anniversary Celebration to find out!”
In addition to networking opportunities at the event, HASBAT will have a commemorative ribbon cutting and a very special announcement with featured guests Dr. William “Bill” Craig, recently retired Director of the Software Engineering Directorate (SED) at the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (AMRDEC), and Mr. Henry Oldham, founder of HNO Services and the Huntsville Defense and Space Calendar.
