Katy Ganaway of WLRH Public Radio was awarded with the Alabama Broadcasters’ Association ABBY Award for Large Market Radio Public Affairs Programming: “Champions of Local Music Remember Tip Top Café”! If you missed it, you can listen here.
Katy is a graduate of Bob Jones High School and attended Troy University, graduating in 2014 with her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, and a minor in Public Relations. She previously worked for Troy Public Radio, the university’s public radio station. She also worked in commercial radio prior to earning her degree.
Katy’s goal is to give a major platform to the voices of the members of our community who are doing wonderful things and giving back, whether that be spotlighting the incredibly talented individuals in Huntsville’s local comedy scene, or presenting to our listeners a gamut of perspectives on racial justice matters in our community.
WLRH’s General Manager Brett Tannehill says of Katy’s win, “Katy is a talented storyteller, content creator and broadcaster. Her work shines a light on important conversations that make our community a more connected and informed place.”
