The Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has hired Kevin Belyeu as convention services manager. This is one of two key staff hires, rounding out the agency’s largest department, convention service and sales. The other is Joel Lamp, the new convention sales manager.
Belyeu comes to the CVB with a variety of experience in nonprofits and hospitality, including hotel guest service, food and beverage, sales, and meeting and event support. Prior to moving to Huntsville, Kevin worked with the Sheraton and Westin hotels in Birmingham, AL; first as a food and beverage supervisor, then as an event meeting specialist, supporting large events at the Birmingham-Jefferson County Convention Complex. After his move to Huntsville, Kevin served as the corporate catering sales manager and then food and beverage manager at the Westin and Element hotels, assisting with a variety of corporate holiday parties and events.
Kevin says he is excited to join the team at the Huntsville/Madison County CVB and they look forward to booking and servicing group events and activities in our community. Travel and tourism is big business in Huntsville and Madison County. Despite the pandemic, in 2020 more than 2.8 million visitors accounted for an economic impact of $1.2 billion, according to the Alabama Tourism Department.
