, a locally owned and operated manufacturer of custom protective packaging, recently moved into its new 44,000-square-foot facility located in Chase Industrial Park. This new facility will substantially increase manufacturing capacity as well as promote an opportunity for further growth and increased employment.
Although the Maven Packaging name has only been around since 2012, the business itself has been serving the Huntsville and surrounding markets since 1982. Previously operating under the name K.D. Wood Company, Inc., the company began expanding upon its manufacturing capabilities in 2010 from almost exclusively producing high-quality custom wooden crating and skids to now include a full-scale foam and plastics fabrication division.

Due to the significant amount of growth experienced within the business over the past nine years and limited availability of commercial manufacturing properties available within Madison County, the company elected to purchase land and construct a facility within Chase Industrial Park where they now call home. Although they have two other facilities in eastern Madison County, the long-term plan is to add an additional 40,000 to 50,000 square feet to the new building within the next four to five years to consolidate all their Alabama operations. In addition to servicing the southeastern market with some of the highest-quality protective packaging products available, they also have a facility near Los Angeles, California.
