This year, the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) is celebrating 50 years of leadership supporting critical roles in the development and sustainment of America’s space stations. On May 14, 1973, the U.S. launched our first space station, Skylab, into orbit, using the third stage of a Saturn IVB rocket that was converted into an orbiting laboratory and habitation module.

Drake State Community and Technical College and Huntsville Hospital proudly announce the graduation of the first cohort of graduates from their groundbreaking Nursing LPN Launch program. The 19 students will now begin work at Huntsville Hospital, helping to fill a critical nursing shortage.

We are pleased to share with you that Huntsville, Alabama has landed the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in 2026. The races will be held September 4-7, 2026, Labor Day weekend, in Cummings Research Park. This premier event will bring approximately 600 of the world’s para-cyclists, along with their support staff and families, to Huntsville.

The Chamber recently received a package in the mail containing several copies of the “Satellite EXTRA” edition and a number of newspaper clippings from February of 1958, chronicling Huntsville’s role launching the first US satellite into orbit and the local celebrations that followed the launch. The clippings provide terrific insight into the events of that day and the days that followed.
