Please act quickly: Nominations and Scholarship Applications due by March 30, 2018
The WEDC Foundation’s mission is to empower women in our community to achieve self-sufficiency and economic independence by providing mentors, flexible financial assistance, and professional development and networking. The Foundation is the sister organization of the Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC) and was created in 1998 as a separate 501c(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation depends on community partners, private donations, and its signature event Women Honoring Women for funding. Its Scholar Services Program benefits 25 ambitious and deserving scholars to reach their professional dreams.
The Foundation actively seeks qualified scholar applicants through March 30th each year. The scholar program requirements and application can be found at www.wedcfoundation.org under the tab Our Program/Scholarship Application. We encourage qualifying women applicants desiring to achieve a two year, four year degree or technical certification and in need of mentoring and professional development to apply today via the website.
Over the past 17 years, the Foundation has recognized extraordinary women from the Madison County community for their significant contributions, professional successes and inspirational journeys at the annual Women Honoring Woman celebration event. Each year the event celebrates “When Perseverance Meets Passion”. This year’s event will be held at the North Hall in the VBC on Thursday evening, September 20, 2018. The Honorees celebrated at the signature event are nominated by members from the community to recognize the giving contributions they have to the careers, family and generations to follow. Nominations for the WHW event are open each year through March 30th. Nominators can submit a nomination packet by visiting the Foundation website at www.wedcfoundation.org and selecting the tab Honorees/Honoree Nominations.
