Huntsville is fairly inexpensive to live in based on average job pay. On average, housing costs make up only 15.9% of the $70,757 annual median salary. Unemployment was 3.9%, compared to an average of 6.9% across all cities.

Huntsville is Alabama’s most educated city, coming in just inside the top 25 nationally, according to a new ranking by Wallethub. The ranking of the 150 most populated U.S. metropolitan statistical areas looked at 11 metrics within two categories: educational attainment and quality of education and attainment gap.
