Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle gave his annual State of the City Address on November 8 at the Von Braun Center North Hall after Huntsville was named the largest city in Alabama. More than 1,100 people attended to hear his remarks, which reflected the successes our community accomplished over the last year. Watch the full recorded video.

OSHA and CMS Vaccine Rules: Biden Administration Issues New Details

The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is announcing the details of a requirement for employers with 100 or more employees to ensure each of their workers is fully vaccinated or tests for COVID-19 on at least a weekly basis. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) at the Department of Health and Human Services is also announcing the details of its requirement that health care workers at facilities participating in Medicare and Medicaid are fully vaccinated.

The Wall Street Journal has ranked Huntsville as the #10 Emerging Housing Market in the U.S. The study was performed in collaboration with Realtor.com to help home buyers decide on the best place to make housing investments. Winning communities had the strongest returns on investment as well as being great places to live.

Chamber Board Opposes Civil Liability Changes for Employers Following COVID Vaccine Mandates

The federal COVID vaccine mandates for federal contractors and employees have provoked a series of bills in the special legislative session called by Governor Ivey to redraw district lines for a number of elected offices. There are now more than 12 such bills in the Legislature that would create a civil liability nightmare for employers.

Northrop Grumman Corporation has announced the opening of a new facility in Cummings Research Park, the second largest research park in the United States and the fourth largest in the world. This facility, located at 110 Wynn Drive, will increase the company’s footprint in Huntsville and support work with the U.S. Air Force Ground Based Strategic Deterrent Program, the Nation’s next generation intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system.

U.S. Space & Rocket announces new Space Camp Operations Center to be named for Boeing

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is proud to announce the naming of its new Space Camp Operations Center for Boeing, a global leader in aerospace and a longtime supporter of the Rocket Center and its Space Camp programs. Boeing is making a $3.5 million donation for the new 40,600-square-foot building that will include a permanent home for U.S. Cyber Camp as well as a 1,000-seat auditorium and 10 classrooms and laboratories to support the Space Camp family of programs.
